[/b] he complained loudly with a pout. "I've already been on a border patrol and hunting patrol. There's a hunting patrol out now so I can't go out without disturbing them. The elder's den is empty, so I can't badger them for stories. I can't find either medicine cat to ask if they need help gathering herbs, and I can't find Sootpelt anywhere!"He sighed in boredom before squinting his eyes up at the sky. "Seriously, I think sometimes our lives are no more exciting and no less average than kittypets. We hunt every day, we patrol every day, we track, train, and live every day. But for what? Day in and day out, everything's the same! StarClan, please, send me some excitement!" Stormwind knew full well that talking to himself was a sign of madness. But he was too bored to care much about his mental state of health.[/blockquote] [/size] [/ul]

Dawnpaw began slipped through the Medicene Den entrance, her tail flicking behind her. She had nothing to do, she and Rainbreeze had already been out for herbs, and no cat was hurt at the moment. And even though hunting wasn't her job, she still would of done it; if the fresh-kill pile wasn't already big. As she approched the center of the clearing, she heard Stormwind talking to himself, and she hid behind a rock, listening. She giggled quietly to herself at the warriors remarks. Stormwind is so weird, she thought.
When he finished his ranting, she skipped over to him. "Your such a crazy cat." She purred. Settling herself down next to the gray tom, she took a breath in and surveyed the camp. Everything was running smoothly, it was a beautifull, warm Greenleaf day...and a quite boring one at that. "I have to agree, though. It is pretty dull today." Standing up and stretching, she padded over to the camp entrance. "I have an idea." She mewed, a miscivous glint in her eye. "Wanna race?" She challenged. She loved to run, so that wouldn't be a problem for her. And Stormwind didn't say he had gone running today. Flicking her tail for the warrior to follow, she waited by the tunnel.

Stormwind jumped when Dawnpaw appeared next to him. "Don't do that! You nearly scared me out of my fur!" he huffed. "And I'll have you know... I know I'm weird. And I find great enjoyment out of scaring people. So telling me I'm crazy does absolutely nothing." He tilted his nose in the air haughtily, but the grin on his face ruined the effect.
At the challenge of a race, however, Stormwind's face lit up. "A race, you say? You know that I'd win, right? I'm way older than you, so I'm fully grown. Your legs are shorter than mine by about a mouse-length. You really sure you want to face that humiliation?"
Despite his warning, the warrior stood from his spot and padded toward the young she-cat, a smirk on his face. Who was he to deny her a face when she's the one who challenged him?

Dawnpaw purred at his reply. "Well maybe I enjoy scaring people too, considering I just 'nearly scared you out of your fur'! And who said you scared me anyway? I just thought it was funny." Flicking her tail at his muzzle, she gave him a look that told him to quit acting like he thought this wasn't funny.
Pretending to stretch to show she was ready, she growled playfully. "Oh, I'm sure I'll be okay. I bet I'll fare fine." Leaping out of the camp, she glanced back to see if Stormwind was following. "Don't get left behind!" She joked. Pumping her legs forward, she sped over to a large stump.
Catching her breath, she mewed, "Okay, so this is where we'll start. Then we'll go all the way to those two trees over there." She flicked her tail to a pair of trees standing tall next to each other. "Is that clear or is your old, experienced brain to complicated fro it?" She purred. Crouching in a starting position, she waited for Stormwind to reply.

Despite his supposed protests to the race, Stormwind easily followed her, his longer legs making it easier to catch up with her. He knew that it wasn't guaranteed that he'd win, but he was willing to bet a moon of dawn patrols that he would. He stopped when she stopped and wasn't even panting. With a mrow of laughter, he said, "If you're already this pooped from a short run, I'd hate to see what you're like after a medicine cat meeting!"
Dawnpaw gestured towards the two trees with her tail and Stormwind pouted like a kit. "I ain't senile yet, you little brat!" he teased with a fake scowl. "ONE TWO THREE GO!" he said quickly, taking off without warning. He cackled as he ran, knowing it was unfair but not really caring.

Dawnpaw scoffed at the grey warrior, though she couldn't come up with a comeback so she just gave him a friendly growl. Preparing herself to start the race, she knew there was a good chance she was going to lose. Her legs were considerably shorter, and Stormwind was stronger. But she loved to run, and what else was there to do? Losing to a friendly race was better then groaning and talking to yourself. She had been bored also, she had already been out for herbs, and with no sick or injured cats, what was she to do? That was her job, but her job didn't need her now.
Purring with laughter, she took her eyes off the two trees and lay them on Stormwind. "Okay, so when I say three, we-" She stopped short as Stormwind sped off. "Hey...!" Leaping foreward, she ran as fast as her apprentice legs could carry her. She wasn't a very long ways away from Stormwind, but it would take a little effort to catch up. She shook her head hopelessly, but the smirk on her face and her giggles gave it away. She was about a tail-legth away from him now, and she pumped her legs as hard as she could to match his pace. Her paws beating by his side, She yowled. "That was cheap! I won't let you win now!" Digging her claws into the ground to go faster, she checked how far away they were from the trees. It wasn't long now. Attempting to pass Stormwind, she tried her best go faster.

Stormwind laughed as Dawnpaw came close. He slackened his pace just enough for her to reach her shoulder. When they were close, he was about to put on an extra burst of speed to leave her in the dust when Sootpelt appeared out of no where and tackled his brother. Stormwind was ashamed of the loud squeal that he gave when Sootpelt's paws met his side.
The two brothers wrestled in the grass while Sootpelt yowled, "Go Dawnpaw, go!", all the while cackled madly. Because Sootpelt was the better fighter of the two, he soon had Stormwind pinned effectively to the ground, allowing the little medicine cat apprentice to win the race.

Dawnpaw ignored the laughter that came from Stormwind, she was going to win, no matter what. Then, suddenly, Sootpelt, jumped out of the bushes and bowled over his brother. Laughing at the squeak of surprise that came out of Stormwind, she realized what Sootpelt was doing. Jolting ahead and laughing to herself, she turned her head back at Sootpelt, who had Stormwind pinned on the ground. "Thanks!" She yowled, barely able to get even that out, she was laughing like crazy. Speeding past the two trees, she skidded to a stop.
Padding back over to where the two grey warriors were, she purred loudly. "That's too bad. But you put up a good fight." Winking to him, she started laughing again. "Nice one, Sootpelt." She meowed, she laughing to herself. Finally getting over herself, though with the occasional giggle. Sitting down and catching her breath fully, she sorta hoped Stormwind wouldn't take it personal, though it wouldn't be like him.
