Splashfire paused beside the pool, right below the waterfall. Her original thought, had been to look for herbs, but, the stores were full, and green-leaf meant this wasn't her last chance. Glancing around, she spotted a tremble under a small patch of leaves. Hunting would be fun, and, she might even get something to bring back to camp, though, it would be strange to see your medicine cat carrying in a pice of fresh-kill.
Feeling like a Thunderclan cat, but ignoring it, she crept forward her belly fur just barely off the ground. She was within a tail lengh of the mouse, and swept her paw forward, flinging it up in the air. It laned, dazed, and she killed it swiftly with a bite to it's neck. Not too shabby for a medicine cat, she thought.

Dovepaw had woken up later because her leg kept her up all night with pain. She'd finally taken some poppy seeds to help. She had fallen a sleep almost right away and slept through the morning. Dovepaw noticed that Splashfire was gone from the den. Since her mentor wasn't in the den and some of the herbs looked kind of low. Dovepaw diecded to get out of camp and explore. But while she was exploring Dovepaw found some of the herbs that were low. She picked them how Splashfire had showed her.
Dovepaw had picked most of all the herbs that were low and while she was going back to camp but she hear'd the falls. Dovepaw always loved the falls and came there offten to take a swim. She walked through some bushes to see Splashfire cruched down. Dovepaw droped the herbs and saw Splashfire catch a mouse. Dovepaw felt so jelousy that her mentor could hunt. But she could because of her leg and tears of anger started to fall down her muzzle "Why.....Why can't I don't anything right" She said with sadness. Dovepaw didn't pay any mind to the herbs in front of her and just cried for the loss of ever becoming a warrior. The only one Dovepaw could ever talk to about it was her brother Falconpaw. But he was busy with his own training of late. Dovepaw had her mind on her thoughts some much that she didn't realize her white tail fell out of the bush.

Mudclaw Mudclaw walked softly over the land. This was his home, yet it still amazed him with the changes it went through every season. Now it was Greenleaf, a time when things were thriving, and one cold relax and enjoy themselves slightly before having to prepare for the next Leafbare. He twitched his tail at the scant of mouse, then noticed that other cats had been by here recently. He lowered his nose, and breathed in their scents, the first one was Riverclan's medicine cat, Splashfire. She must have come looking for herbs, it was the best time of year to gather fresh herbs. The other scent was that of Dovepaw. Just then the large brown tom spotted a white tail trailing out from a bush, overlooking the waterfalls. Silently the earth toned warrior walked up the the young apprentice. He could just hear the talking softly to herself. He walked up next to her and whispered, That's not true. You can do many things right. He hoped that his presence wouldn't startle her, but he wasn't sure if she wanted Splashfire knowing she was watching. He looked out at the healer, and realized that she had just caught the mouse he was following.

Splashfire had just noticed a scuffling behind her, and turned around, tense with surprise. She relaxed for a second, as she realized it was RiverClan. Then tensed again, as she realized that it was also her apprentice and a warrior. "Hello Dovepaw." She mewed, hiding her surprise best she could. When she heard Mudclaw, she added, "Of course you can do things right. You're not the first cat who's been hampered by an injury, and you won't be the last. But, you don't need to be able to hunt or fight to help you're clan." She wan't sure how to make her apprentice feel better. It was stupid for a Medicine Cat to hunt, but, she couldn't much help it either. She almost sighed out loud. It had took her a while to grow to like her job, and she still hunted occasionally. She just hoped that this wouldn't get out of hand. It would hurt her apprentice to see her hunt. Her heart clenched and unclenched, as she thought about it, and waited for Mudclaw or Dovepaw to answer her noticement of them.

Dovepaw stared up at Mudclaw after what he said and gave a little blush. No one has ever seen her like this. Only her brother has ever been there for her at a time like this and to make it worse her mentor just showed up. Dovepaw got angry at her mentors last words "You're not the first cat who's been hampered by an injury, and you won't be the last. But, you don't need to be able to hunt or fight to help you're clan." is what the medicine cat said. Dovepaw glared at her mentor "It's easy for you to say...You had a choose to be become Medicine cat Apprentice or not.....I didn't and all because of a broken leg that didn't heal right.......I'm useless in a fight or a hunting patrol is why they had me made the medicine cat apprentice" Dovepaw said as tears ran down her face.
Dovepaw had always wanted to be a warrior just like her parents and that dream was crushed by a fall over a small cliff during her kithood. Dovepaw picked up the shattered herbs she'd found that they were low on and placed them in front of Splashfire "Here are the herbs we needed" said Dovepaw before turning to go back to camp. Just before passing Mudclaw though she gave him a small smile as a way of saying sorry for ignoring him "thanks for trying to cheer me up Mudclaw....But I don't have a cheery bone in my body no more......Not since that fall" Dovepaw said as she gentle passed Mudclaw. No one understood her more then her brother and she just wanted to be understood.
No one understood her chance of being a warrior was ripped away from her and to her it was so unfair. Dovepaw limped as far as she could go until she found a small abandoned fox den. She deicded to rest here and maybe wait until Splashfire or Mudclaw cought up to her. Tears fell down her muzzle as the pain of Dovepaw's dream being crushed made her heart ache with loss. It was just as painful as when she lost her parents.

Mudclaw The large brown warrior looked up at Splashfire approached. He wanted to try to help the young apprentice, but hoped that her mentor would better know what to say. Though as the medicine cat spoke, he winced slightly, knowing that her words meant to comfort, would only hurt. He caught the look from Dovepaw before she replied to her mentor. The young cats words, an tone tore at the large tom's heart, but as she spoke to him, he knew she was right, how could he help? He was a warrior, and he could never pretend to understand how she felt, only imagine, and even that was painful to do. He dipped his head, accepting her words, then watched, pained, as she turned and headed for camp. He had seen the shine of her eyes, the tears she had tried hard to hold back. He swung his head toward the medicine cat, Splashfire. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have intruded. he spoke softly to the she-cat before him. He had known that the young medicine cat apprentice had been through a lot, but it wasn't his place to interfere with matters between her and her mentor. Even though he felt for the young cat, nothing he could do could heal her leg, and return her dreams of becoming a warrior. Then he thought of another cat, Cinderpelt, a Thunderclan medicine cat. She had also been wounded, and stripped of her dreams, but had touched cats of each of the clans, saving lived in every clan, not caring who they were, only that they needed help, and she could give it. Splashfire fallowed after her apprentice, easily moving right next to her. "Dovepaw, they did not make you my apprentice because you're useless. What do you think the clan would do without Medicine Cat's and their apprentices? It takes skill to be a Medicine Cat, they don't just dump it on those who can't be a warrior." Splashfire meowed. She had to find a way to get through to her apprentice! "A loyal warrior would serve their clan in any way possible, whether that way was being a Medicine Cat or a Warrior. You are a loyal cat, Dovepaw." [/blockquote]

Dovepaw looked at her mentor with teary eyes of angry at first. But then she hear'd Splashfire's words and listened until the end of her little talk. The young medicine cat apprentice thought about her mentors words and knew she was right. It took Skill to be made medicine cat apprentice. Dovepaw cried more and leaned in to her mentors shoulder. It was always so hard on her to know she would never be a warrior. Just then Falconpaw ran over to his sister "Whats wrong Dovepaw" he said with worry in this tone. Dovepaw looked up quickly to see her brother and quickly moved over to his shoulder to lean in to it with tears still running down her muzzle. Dovepaw staying silent didn't help her brother to not worry. Falconpaw looked at Splashfire "What happen Splashfire" he said in slight anger at finding Dovepaw this way. Dovepaw was a sweet hearted she cat and was easily hurt.

Mudclaw Mudclaw started to follow the others, then stopped. It wasn't his place, he would give them some time. He scented the air, then noticed the smell of water vole. He crouched, and slowly moved along the ground. Then he spotted the fat little vole, sitting near the water's edge. It had it's back to him. He wiggled him haunches a little, then sprung forward, landing perfectly ontop of the water vole. Then suddenly he plunged head first into the cold water's grip. He paddled back to shore and pulled himself out. He shook his fur, then sat down to lick the rest dry. He looked back there the clever prey had been. He had perfect aim, but had been too close to the water, and had been unable to stop before falling in. He shood his brown head again, then stood and headed back toward camp. He slowed as he heard voices. He had found the others. Now another cat was with them, Falconpaw, Dovepaw's brother. Mudclaw tried to back up, planning to go around the trio unnoticed. He knew that Dovepaw was close to her brother, and he was afraid of making things worse for the young she-cat.

Splashfire inwardly winced at the question. She had no answer to give. For StarClan's sake, she wasn't even sure what she'd done in the first place had been right. Splashfire flicked her tail, in a way that said, I'll tell you later. She was also hoping he would forget. She didn't want to go nearer to the two other cats, to break the fragility of the moment. This was hard for Dovepaw, and though Splashfire hadn't had much of a choice either, it had been different. She wanted to lick the she-cats' head, and tell her it was Okay, and everything was all right. But, she knew that Falconpaw was protective of his sister, and didn't want to make anything worse.

Falconpaw glared holes in to Splashfire and yet deep down he knew the older she cat tried to help. But he felt that no one else but he could comfort his sister. Falconpaw licked his smaller sister on her head and told her "Everythings going to be Okay Dovepaw, I'm here and I'll always be here" Falconpaw said with a soft look to his face as he looked at Dovepaw. The small fluffy white she cat looked at her much bigger brother and gave a small smile as if to show she was okay. Dovepaw then lookes at her mentor for a moment. She walked over to Splashfire and looked down for a moment but looking back up at Splashfire "I'm sorry and I understand where your coming from with what you said" some tears fell down her muzzle with her next words "it's just been so hard Splashfire and I feel like no one understands. That I can't trust anyone for comfort but Falconpaw" she said in a soft tone.
Falconpaw relaxed slightly at how Dovepaw was talking to Splashfire. The tabby tom had hoped that one day his sister would learn to trust some one. Falconpaw watched his sister with bright forest green green eyes. Then just as she walked over to Splashfire, Dovepaw walked back over to Falconpaw and leaned on to his shoulder. Falconpaw sighed as he knew Dovepaw was going to take a while before she completely trusted Splashfire "Your going to have to trust someone else one day Dovepaw, I might not always be here" He whispered for only his sister to hear. But Falconpaw wanting to know what Splashfire had said to set Dovepaw off. But he had seen the flick of her tail to say she would tell him later and he expacted her to tell him later what happen. Falconpaw nodded his head in Splashfire's direction as to say he understood, but was still a little mad at her.

Mudclaw Mudclaw stood back and watched. He could just hear the words of the three cats. He could tell that Falconpaw wasn't happy with Splashfire, but held back to protect his sister. As the young she-cat walked over to her mentor, Mudclaw startted to back up, but moved slowly. When he was sure that Dovepaw would be fine, he turned and returned to the falls. He scented the air, then started to circle around, and to head back to camp from another direction. He had been out of camp for a while, and thought he should get back, and rest before having to go on patrol.

Splashfire held her breath as Dovepaw spoke. Then rested her head on the smaller she-cats'. "You're right-I don't know what it's like for you, and I won't pretend that I do. No one can blame you for any of this." She meowed, "But, you can always trust me." She hoped that this would work.
She hoped that Mudclaw would pick up the mouse she'd caught. But, that was in the back of her mind. She looked at her apprentice and mewed softly, "You'll always be braver then the bravest Warrior, Dovepaw." She felt a spark of pity for her apprentice, but, it turned to pride as it left her mind, and went to her heart. Inwardly, she purred.

*Dovepaw & Falconpaw*
The little white she cat looked at her mentor as she spoke and then rubbed her head againist Splashfires as she saw the pride in the older she cats eyes. It reminded her so much about her mother. It was a good look and it made her feel so improtect. Dovepaw missed her mother just as much as she knew Falconpaw did. She felt that with time she could indeed trust Splashfire with her life maybe one day. Dovepaw understood her mentors words and they helped alot "I don't know how I can be so brave as you say...I've never been in a real fight like Falconpaw has or even mother or father before they dead" she said not completely understanding Splashfire.
Falconpaw sat there with his tail wrapped around his big paws and watched his smaller sister talk to Splashfire. He knew right now would be a good time to fade out so Dovepaw could open up more easily to someone else besides himself. The other apprentice left with a sad look in his eyes and a frown on his muzzle. Falconpaw didn't want her to depend on anyone but himself and yet he knew it was wrong to keep Dovepaw that way. It would keep her from growing in a wonderful medicine cat one day when Splashfire retired to the elders den or was killed some how or another. Falconpaw sighed sadly at this thoughts and silently padded away to find some fresh kill on the way back to camp.

Mudclaw Mudclaw picked up the mouse Splashfire had dropped, along with the two that he had caught. He entered the camp and set them on the pile. He then headed to the shelter of the warrior's den. It was nearly empty at this time of day, only a few warriors, trying to avoid the sun's heat, could be found. The others were out hunting or marking boarders. He walked over to his nest, where he circled a few times before setteling down. He licked the dirt and grim from his cholocate brown pelt. Then laid, resting his head on his front paws. Once he was rested, Mudclaw stood, then streching, he left the shelter offered by the den. He looked around, trying to see who was around.
