Tawnystripe grumbled to herself as she padded along the Steppingstone Creek. Her muscles slid fluidly beneath her tawny-striped pelt as she walked, and she paused to stretch in a patch of rare sunlight. ShadowClan's territory was usually wreathed in mists, making sunny patches to rest in rare.
But she had to move on. Her supply of watermint had gone bad from rain leaking in her stores, so the medicine cat was searching for some now. "Watermint is usually found by rivers, streams, and creeks like this." she meowed to herself, flicking her ear to indicate the body of water. "Usually just some wet ground is enough, and we have plenty of that. So why in StarClan's name haven't I found any yet?"
She glared at the water as if blaming it for her bad fortune and slapped at the surface with a paw. The noise would be sure to startle some nearby prey, but Tawnystripe wasn't hunting for prey. She was hunting for herbs, and that was nearly just as hard to find.

A ripple of water sent cheerful kits of the luquid into Crimsonstar's black colored face. She flinched, shaking her head to clear it of the offending substance but as she ShadowClan cat she was, she said nothing. That is...until she heard movement up ahead mingled with mindless cursing.
A mrrow of laughter parted the ShadowClan leader's ebony jaws as she spotted the tawny pelt of their Medicine Cat Tawnystripe. Her long legs made it easy to catch up to the annoyed she-cat, her tail flicking over the Medicine Cat's shoulder.
"Peace, the water means you no harm today." Her crimson colored eyes held an amused gleam as she tried to calm her friend. "Looking for Watermint?" she asked.

Crimsonstar really should have known better than to mock her. Tawnystripe glared at her leader and friend and hissed out sarcastically, "No, I just thought I'd abuse the universe a little." The medicine cat glared at the stream and angrily shook her paw at it. "Curse you, universe, for hiding the watermint from me! How thou hath forsaken me! I will-"
She cut herself off as a fresh wind blew, bringing a scent to her nose. Tawnystripe sniffed the air and followed the scent to a patch of watermint, exactly the herb that she'd been looking for. "Ooh, watermint! Thank you universe!" she smirked.

"I was not mocking you old friend." Crimsonstar meowed, flickering her tail over her friend's ear as she heard what she believed to be anger in Tawnystripe's voice.
The breeze flitted about their noses cheerfully, swirling over the leaves of the Watermint, much to Tawnystripe's delight. Crimsonstar settled beside the plant, her well toned ShadowClan muscles rippling under her ebony pelt. At Tawnystripe's words, Crimsonstar repeated the words of her beloved mentor: "Good things come to those who wait."

Tawnystripe scowled at Crimsonstar and set to work harvesting the leaves. "If I had an apprentice, this would go twice as quickly." she griped, carefully looking around. She was looking for something to carry the bundle that wouldn't leave a taste in her mouth. Deciding to enlist her friend's help, she flicked her tail at Crimsonstar. "Find a large leaf I can use to bundle these up and a long piece of grass I can use to tie it up."
Mentally, Tawnystripe was going through the list of the herbs back at the storage. She didn't want to make two trips. 'How am I on garlic? We need a good supply of that because of the rats in Carrionplace. I don't want to let anyone get infected because I don't have a garlic.'

Crimsonstar nodded to Tawnystripe, easing to a standing position and trotting off in search of a leaf to help her. The dabbled sunlight made patterns on her long ebony pelt, making it glow like a storyboard of ShadowClan's History.
But she payed it no heed as her teeth fastened around a large leaf, her inscissors barely scraping the stem as she carried her burden back to where she had began. As she laid it on the ground she mewed, "Here you go. We should get you an apprentice, no smart comments please because I have been looking for quite some time but no kits have shown any promise."

Tawnystripe glared at Crimsonstar, but made no comment. "Now for a piece of grass. There should be a well-grown tussock about two fox-lengths beyond that bush." She gestured towards a bush to their right with her tail before methodically piling the watermint leaves into piles. Without looking up from her work, she called out, "Keep an eye out for wild garlic while you're gone. I want to stock up a good supply, just in case the rats in Carrionplace decide to get bold and attack a patrol. We'll pile them with the watermint."
